Is it enough? [Mar. 10th, 2011|06:57 pm]

I've started doing an exercise regime because I'm worried about an increase in my waist measurement.

I really don't have much discipline, so I only manage about 20 sits and 20 push ups a day, coupled with a 2 mile brisk walk to work.

I just wanted to ask am I kidding myself that this will help keep my waist trim? *

* I have tried to curb back eating junk food, but usually snack on biscuits and / or a cream cake at least once a week.

So, I can't help but notice that many of you are doing the Hundred Pushups Challenge. Some of you are even doing sit-ups and squats challenges as well.

Do they work? Are they any good? Have you been able to keep up the pace?

And should I put my fat-arse into gear and try it?

OK, so I'm still fat, and have decided to change my dietary habits.

I'm considering cutting down on wheat products, sugary foods and butter.

I use a lot of these, and alternatives would be very gratefully received.

Y'all should check out ShrinkGeek, a diet & exercise website specifically targetted at geeks and gamers.  :)

A couple of my friends are writing it, and it looks pretty good, so far:

Cross posted to absintheskiss .

I have posted this here as I feel you guys would understand just how this breaks the mould.  But tonight, I went to the Monday night table top Mage game and didn't buy any chocolate, crisps, nibbles of any sort.  And this is on top of having a rather crappy day and good excuse to indulge in a little comfort food (1st time driving test, alas it will not be my last).

As far as I have seen in over 20 years, tabletop has equalled munchies since time (or Tunnels and Trolls) began.

I guess this is about breaking habits, and links that we just take for granted, and RP and LRP has their own traditions regarding food and drink. It was suprisingly difficult, the chocolate craving was very strong and I had to talk myself out of it, and it also felt a little wierd to walk into the house without going into the Co-Op first.  But I did notice I have a habit of buying stuff to 'share' and then end up eating at least 75% of it.  Is it only me that does that?

Anyway, enough rambling.  It is a small thing I have done today, but I'm quite chuffed with myself for managing it.

Running [Dec. 28th, 2008|05:21 pm]

OK, I've not too much to moan about weight/size wise, but my fitness sucks. My aim is to get back to the level of fitness I had 10 years ago, when I could run 6 miles without dying partway through (or afterwards). I've just started to run again, and am currently managing a paltry 0.8 mile run round the streets near my house. I need to build up gradually as I am asthmatic and my lungs don't like nasty surprises. I also need to go back to cycling to work, which I did Spring thru' Autumn 2007 but have hardly done this year (its 6 miles each way, up and down hill). I've bought my OH a gym membership for Xmas so I am hoping his getting fitter will encourage me too. I have a new character to play in the New Year, and the premise is that she is fast and fit - so I have some work to do before April which is probably the earliest I will get to play her.
